"There is a gra... *ahem* ... disturbance in the graveyard." The priest paused. "And?" Dwayne asked. "I cannot leave my duties in the church, would you be so kind to investigate the matter in my stead?" The priest seemed to know more than what he was telling, Dwayne thought. "Curious proposition, but I will investigate the graveyard." Dwayne said and head out and to the graveyard South of the church.
Dwayne went to the graveyard and saw a lot of graves, some of the dates on these graves were ancient with weird names he couldn't even begin to pronounce. An old woman stood outside a crypt, but didn't pay attention to Dwayne, she seemed to stare off into the distance. Might as well ask this woman if she has seen anything peculiar, Dwayne thought. "Excuse me, miss?" Dwayne asked a bit precariously. "Yes?" The old woman said with a monotonous, rather deep voice. "Have you seen anything out of the ordinary in the graveyard?" Dwayne asked. "Not in the graveyard itself, but ..." She paused and looked back at the crypt she was standing in front of and turned back to Dwayne, "this crypt might be what you're looking for." "It is?" Dwayne asked. "Yes." The old woman said with a strange smile. "Maybe later. I'm now only checking out the graveyard itself." Dwayne said while thinking about the crypt.
He looked around himself and then he noticed a sepulcher was cracked open slightly. What this? Dwayne thought, as he approached the unlidded sepulcher. He looked inside the sepulcher and saw that there lay a skeleton bone remains without its skull missing inside. Suddenly Dwayne felt a chill surge down his spine.
From the corner of his right field of vision he saw an apparition appear out of thin air, Dwayne quickly turned his head right to face what he saw and he could not believe his eyes. Dwayne saw a transparent figure, seemingly standing in front of him. The figure opened its mouth and Dwayne heard a strange groan, almost like sighing coming from the figure: "Woooooooo woooooo wooooooo wooo." Dwayne fell backwards on his buttocks and recoiled in fear as he laid a few distances between himself and the groaning, transparent figure. The figure held up its limbs outreached towards him and sighed: "Woooooooo ooooo." Dwayne was livid and his heart racing and felt cold sweat form on his palms and face.
"W-Wha-What?" Dwayne said in terror. The figure must be a ghost! Dwayne thought. The ghost sighed again and pointed one of its limbs at the sepulcher: "wooooo woooooo wooo wooooooo." Dwayne tried to collect himself and went back on his feet, and saw that the ghost was pointing at the skeletons missing skull. Dwayne looked back at the ghost and the ghost seemed to frown. The ghost faded away.
This must be the disturbance Father Aereck mentioned, Dwayne thought. The old woman North of Dwayne seemed to smirk and just said: "Good luck, adventurer." Dwayne ran back to the church. "I saw a ghost!" Dwayne shouted at Father Aereck. "What?" Father Aereck said with a raised left eyebrow, "Sure you weren't out in the desert sun too long, child?" "I'm telling you, it was a ghost!" Dwayne insisted. "Very well then, you saw a ghost, what's it doing in the graveyard then?" Father Aereck said with a skeptical tone. "I don't know, but I think I have an idea why. The ghost pointed at an open sepulcher that had a skeleton missing its skull, that -must- be why it's there." Dwayne retold. "I'm no expert in ghosts, but I think that is probably why it's still in the mortal realm then." Father Aereck said. "Also, I think it tried to say something, but all I heard was sighs and groans." Dwayne said.
"I know a guy" Father Aereck said with a grin on his face and continued, "who might help you with that." "Who might that be?" Dwayne asked. "We studied together and while I became a priest, he became a monk, of sorts ..." Father Aereck paused slightly, "he might help, but I don't know if he would want to, he's ... odd. He lives in Lumbridge swamp, by himself. He dislikes company as he spends most of his time meditating." Dwayne said: "If he has a way for me to communicate with the ghost, I will try and get his help." "Tell him I sent you, he's called Father Urhney, by the way." Father Aereck said as Dwayne head out the church.
Dwayne head South, through the graveyard and into the Lumbridge swamp.
Dwayne saw the mining site to the South as he turned right and went West, deeper into the misty swamp. Ahead of him he saw what appeared to be hands coming from the ground! I'm staying clear of that place - for now, Dwayne thought, and headed Southwest and came to a cabin in the swamp.
It was more of an old worn shack than a cabin, but this did not deter Dwayne. Dwayne knocked on the door of the cabin. No answer. "Hello? Anybody home?" Dwayne inquired as he stood outside the door to the cabin. "I'm looking for ... for Father Urhney." No answer. I better look inside, Dwayne thought.
Dwayne opened the door and an old man in black robes was standing inside with closed eyes and with spiky hair. Dwayne was a tad curious, why the man had not responded earlier. He must've heard me, Dwayne thought.
"Excuse me, sir? Are you Father Urhney?" Dwayne asked. The old man let out a long sigh and did not respond in turn. "Sir? I need your help with something, I'm looking for a way to communicate with ghosts ... you are Father Urhney, are you not?" Still with closed eyes the old man reached into his pockets and presented an amulet with a strung small skull and presented it to Dwayne. Dwayne did not say anything but took the amulet and as soon as he touched it he felt an eerie sense of foreboding, as if the amulet tried to speak to him.
The old man gestured him to leave, waving his arm at the direction of the door of the cabin. Dwayne said nothing and left. Clearly this man values his privacy, Dwayne thought. Dwayne headed back to Lumbridge church.
"Well? What did Father Urhney say?" Father Aereck was almost glee in anxious curiosity. "That's just it." Dwayne answered, "he didn't say anything, he just gave me this amulet and showed me the door." Dwayne showed the amulet with the strung small skull to Father Aereck. Father Aereck did a small gesture with his right hand and looked at it and then said: "That must be what you'll need to communicate with ghosts, obviously." "How will an amulet let me speak with the dead?" Dwayne asked a tad skeptic. "Magic." Father Aereck said. "Why am I not surprised." Dwayne said halfhearted, "fine. I'll try it on and go back to the sepulcher." As Dwayne adorned the amulet he felt a small chill down his spine and he could've swore he heard sighs come from the amulet, similar to what the ghost he had encountered did.
Dwayne walked back to the sepulcher and saw the old woman by the crypt smiling now as he approached the sepulcher. "Well, here goes." Dwayne said silently to himself.
