Can someone explain why there's someone in an opposite coloured shirt on each side of the Volleyball court?

Like Japan are blue, Korea are red, but there is a red shirt on Japan's team and a blue on Korea's team?

e: I have been informed it is the captain's colours and a coincidence they are the opposite colours Unslain Bosses - Clan
