Apparently some dickhead hacked me a few years back while my account was inactive and changed my username. Now somebody else got my original username. Is there any way to force reclaim it? My login name is Desupty (no email) and I used to have a semi popular YouTube channel as I maxed in a record time back in 2011. I don't like the idea of how somebody's able to just walk around with the username I gave quite a bit of popularity to years back. Besides, it's my login name.

Yeah I thought mine was protected too? Some old myth that maxed players get their username reserved to them. It just doesn't make any sense to me that somebody can literally use my LOG IN NAME for their Display name.

What's worse is that whoever has the name doesn't even appear on the 07 or the RS3 hiscores.

Is there anyway to reclaim that display name?
No.
Jagex no longer provides support to return stolen display names. They used to but they don't anymore and haven't for several years.

Instead they focus on educating players to bring their emails and Runescape accounts to a state secure enough that a hijack (and name theft) is not possible.

Got this from the other forum. I suppose HLF is no longer a place to ask for special privileges considering everyone and their nan can get a maxed account nowadays

So somebody literally hacked me, changed my username, stole all my shit and then went on to claim my username on a new account and dispose of it the next day. Nothing to be done about that. I feel very welcomed back

Honestly, there's no official way to get your username back unless they do a name release (which tends to happen ever 3-4 years, and the last one happened 2017), and even then, names are only released from accounts that haven't logged in for more than 12 months. There may be a name release this year, or next year.

The other option is going to RuneFest and asking Customer Support in person. This is what I did for my old RsN that was name-sniped by a player from CPK who wanted to troll others using my old name.
