cont. as I'm in the mood to ramble
It's easy to feel nostalgic about the older days and I do truly believe they were the better days, but like I said not everything was perfect back then either. Let me also quickly note that daily effigy assisting was a very strange way to train Runecrafting at 91+.
Nevertheless, the game only really required a few updates to be perfected at that point. We needed Runespan a little earlier on to tackle the effigyscape/assisting problem and perhaps we could've done with a more afkable but slower mining method and perhaps a few better agility courses.
I don't think effigies should've ever been nerfed as it fucked many people over who didn't focus on Slayer before the update. Nobody complained about the fun little xp rewards whilst training one of the most popular skills. Did it make any sense to get Agility XP during Slayer? No.. but we got Silverhawks today and many other things that really don't make sense... and besides, they were never that OP anyway. It's not like you'd get over 30m agility XP from 200m slayer.
The game has most certainly taken a very interesting turn and fortunately I've grown to enjoy it again. I just choose to not participate in all the things I don't like. All the things that I hated about the game, I don't do anymore. What ruined this game for me were all the dailies and all this crazy stuff to optimize efficiency. I miss the days of just logging on and doing Living Rock Caverns for 16 hours and being #1 on Runetrack every day for a week straight or logging on and doing nothing more than running some laps.
Now we have to do two caches per day, we have to do skillchompas, we have to do warbands (and hope not to die), we have to do our wicked hood teleports, we have to do this and that. Also make sure to run 3 alts at the same time to farm enough gold so you can pay for your silverhawks.
Anyway, like I said, I don't participate in all that anymore. I'll train divination old fashioned and enjoy it.
