Jagex have said this will be fixed at some point, though this was said months ago. I believe it's still to be done eventually, but is being pushed back by more important engine work.

To get NXT on Linux now without fucking around with whatever dependency issues, look here

Jagex did indeed mention about updating it a couple months ago, but haven't heard anything else about it yet. I could update the outdated dependencies to correct security concerns, but I haven't had the time do it.

You can update/upgrade them easily yourself, all it really takes is a little search of the web.

I installed libpng 1.2 no issues.

Then it wanted libssl 1.0.0 so i got that. And 1.0.2.

It was then complaining about libssl.so.1.0.0: version 'OPENSSL_1.0.2' not found so I gave up.

Got the snap package, thank you, Hmm.

I am doing all this in a PureOS VM.

(I use a sane init system on my computers (excepting for Armbian on my Tritium SBC server which comes with systemd >_&gt ;)

dev-1.org

We should all be happy, safe, and free; can't do that with systemd!)

I'm up and running (last logged in 85 days ago!) in a PureOS VM with the snap package!

Yay!!!

Clicks are instant, yet graphics takes a little bit to catch up.

This is running on a Librem 15 with Devuan.

If you don't want a systemd dependency but do want RS, you can use the flatpak instead https://flathub.org/apps/details/com.jagex.RuneScape

Use the instructions for installing as if it were Debian, and Flatpak doesn't have a Systemd dependency, so should run on SysVInit and hence Devaun

I'm away for a couple days, when I get back to my laptop I'll test RS in the new VM I created without Intel's CPUID functioning lol. It maked it blazing fast! Down with Intel! Down with Micro$oft! Down with any and all oppression.

(If it doesn't run at a speed at which I can interact normally I'll take your suggestion and just run the flatpak on my Devuan system directly.)
