I WAITED 24 WEEKS TO OVERTAKE SIKR IN FANTASY FOOTBALL SO I COULD COME ONTO THE FORUMS AND SHIT TALK HIM
DOES THAT COUNT
How does RSOF not have a like system yet. Ffs this is by far the best post of 2018
Real talk, because it isn't popular and the majority of populated forums are reddit and fansites.
This place isn't active, i'm surprised it has what it has tbh.
Only because Mods took to reddit instead. Embarrassing really when you think of it.

???? Its far easier to buy a hammer than it is to try and smelt your own at home.

Good analogy, but if you already have a hammer, it's easy to keep it in good shape than it is to keep buying new ones. RSOF predates reddit.

RSOF are more like something relatively hard and deformed that you can use to bang things. With a ton of refinement you can probably turn it into an actual hammer, but your neighbor already went through the trouble of making a ton of hammers so you may as well throw away your deformed rock and use one the hammers.

Haha this is true, however I am reluctant to step down just yet
RSOF was a lump of something used to smash a nail when everyone else was using the same, sure the neighbour now has a lot of hammers they're happy to lend out, but if Jagex had stuck with moulding their lump of metal from a lump to a hammer in the first place, they'd also have a very good hammer to use.
Put it another way, the UK gov located a tonne of oil a while back and used the money for some purpose or other, I forget exactly what but it was spent. One of the Scandinavians found oil as well but spent it in infrastructure as an investment, they now have a load of surplus cash and a good infrastructure, the UK is falling apart. Quite literally if you read the latest stories about the Houses of Parliament.
I don't dispute it's probably easier to go to reddit now, but if Jagex had simply done what sites such as reddit did and progressed, we wouldn't be in this mess. Youtube, google, facebook etc etc, all of these sites constantly update and stuff. RSOF, apart from the odd graphical upgrade and the very recent pictures update, has stayed the same over the last 15 years. Shame really, I despise reddit.

Unless you mean the land-based oil, that was discovered during the 19th Century, then the money wasn't spent.. they just sold off the rights to private companies (largely American), that happened to have board members (or major investors) who were friends with the then PM (Thatcher).
The Scottish counterparts did a far better job of investing, and making use of, the oil revenue (though this was hampered by attempts to force them to do the same as Westminster had done).
Edit: Idk why my brain makes these typos, fixed 1, there are more, but I'll just mess it up more, if I try.

On topic: I think the thing that best fits your criteria, would be the 1st Gop game I played, when I got back (which was a Ploord game, with one of my best RS-based friends); we somehow managed to play very well, and got a new RO, despite both of us having not played much for 18 Months (was fairly haxy spawns, but also well played), which made us both feel like pros (in a joking way, as we both knew it was just good coincidences).
Other than that, there have been a few incidents that have been nice, though most have been tainted by missed opportunities, as I keep fluffing up getting new maxes, by misclicking.

Yeah I was going off a half remembered snippet I heard once xD My basic point was that you can make good choices and you can make bad choices. Jagex had the oppourtunity years ago to level the playing field and instead they jumped ship because it was easier to let someone do their dirty work, ie use reddit which is monitored by someone else and still gets the jagex message across.
