I have ticked off a few random achievements in groups but cannot seem to unlock the fury blades one in a group, it dosent say needs to be solo but does it need to be?

you are referring to the Solo PvM achievement 'Bring it all back'.

'Both blades must be used for the whole duration of the kill, not just the final blow.'
