Hello,

I just heard that the bank rework is more or less cancelled...
is this true?

I quit rs3 after seeing placeholders in Osrs.
Now osrs even has bank presets more or less.

Rs3 really needs that update to keep all the new and old items in order the way
we want to.

As long this update isn't comming i won't be touching rs3 again...
First hyping us with even teaser pictures and now cancelling it ?

That's no good...

Thanks for pointing that one out man.

I just saw this one line in that whole post that made a lot of sense.

"but that the benefits the rework offers don't offer as much as we could get from other smaller engine features that have also been requested over the years."

As a lot of ppl have been expecting with the new microtransactions items as solomon this is actually the case.
I guess i just didn't want to believe it and actually had faith in jagex they weren't this greedy.

RIP Rs3 and enjoy osrs as long as i can untill rs3 actually kills osrs aswell cause of the declining players...

oh no my bank is messy i cant play rs3 now bye

You totally nailed it.

It's totally not because they shelved one of the most important updates for rs3 because
a few smaller features that require less work will get them more money than actually improving the games most used systems.

I even wonder if they could bypass this by removing most of the cosmetic items.
Just how many solomon items are there ingame?
Removing those might actually put them below the ID limit and make them able to do this...

Jagex continually reiterate (and it's become a meme more or less) that they
shelved
the Bank Rework, and not canceled it.

The distinction is that something placed onto a shelf can, at some point, be taken off the shelf again in the future.

Putting on my tinfoil hat for a moment; it's actually rather clever of Jagex to have this "shelf", because although they're always able to go back and take things off the shelf they're under no obligation to do so, so it's easy enough for them to put anything up there - even projects they might have decided internally never to revisit.Doing so avoids the full force of backlash, after all.

When was the last time a project was taken off the shelf, worked on, completed and then released into the game? Can't think of one? I can't either - there may be examples but they don't spring easily to mind, and this is why the community equates "shelved" with "cancelled".

In this case, I'm inclined to trust Jagex on this one: such a rework would be incredibly risky to do right at this moment, and it's blatantly no simple task. They know full-well how much we need it and want it, so if it made sense for them to be doing it, they'd probably be doing it. That they're not implies it *would* be too costly and dangerous: how long would it realistically take? How much resources would they need to tie-up? How would we players deal with, or respond to, an extended stretch of time with limited to no updates?

We know the answer to the last one at least - there was a rather long drought of updates towards the end of last-year, and the community didn't respond especially well. If it had not been broken by Player Owned Farms and an arbitrary DXP Weekend, who knows how bad it would have gotten.

So yes, I think they will revisit the Bank Rework, but it could be so far-off in the future that for all intents and purposes we might as well consider it cancelled, since it won't be arriving this year or next year anyway.
