I am not entirely new to the idea because I have been funny places and seen it. I was at Lord British Ultima Manor. I knew a ton of Origin people in Austin and saw them dismissed en masse. I skated with some of the id guys and watched the microtransaction model get formed. I know all about crunch. I have pals in the 20 man team for carmack occulus in dallas lucky enough not to have to go sleep in vans in menlo park with the other many thousand he employs. I have some funny trophies too... carmack puts up these "kick ass repeat" propaganda posters that are like arbeit macht frei or somethin. Crazy stuff. I have never tried to work in gaming, but I wind up knowing all these game industry people. thegia. gameforms. gama sutra. kotaku. etc.
What was new was hearing Hasan Minhaj articulate the rhetoric for a recent episode of patriot act on netflix about the possibility of new union things happening in the UK, and he concluded with a call for players to say they support unionizing game workers. So yeah. I do.
I never want Jagex to have to crunch, and I am sorry that y'all have cycled through a couple hundred employees since I started playing. I wish all of y'all could have been kept on, and if it means the game gets to be a more expensive subscription: no problem.
nice one emo mopes. ever ready to disprove a lack of care by typing idc... and this time I was talking about fair pay, fair conditions, etc for the people in charge of your game.
maybe save your sniping for when I am talking about content rather than the quality of life for the people who make the game?

edit/add: hey look I know its fun bein scrappy, and I see how its confusing like I am suddenly bein altruistic or kissing ass. I am not. Its good for the game if they have super happy employees and amazing retention. Right now jagex kinda seen as "my first gig in video games" and not a whole career. I think. I mean... I am outside the industry, but I got friends who work all over so sometimes I read gama sutra and shit for sake of better conversations.
this GWU thing is kinda real. other companies kinda doin it already. all of HLF ought to care that we dont lose good people at jagex to other companies for shitty games but with better working conditions, right?
I have quit rsof because moderator found comments about darklight bonus damage on demons "off topic" for wildy flash mobs full of demons
