===== Section 13: Introduction to Gameplay 1 =====
There is no requirement to enter Player Owned Ports. A weekly activity within, NPC Meg, has no level requirement and is available to all members.

To start and make progress in the minigame (sending ships on voyages), have at least 1 skill at level 90 of 12 available skills (see Section 11; each skill corresponding with a specific adventurer). Level boosts do NOT work.

More content is unlocked for each of the skill requirements (for the adventurers) met. In addition to the skill requirements to play the minigame, several other requirements have to be met in order to fully be able to use the minigame (see Section 12).

To efficiently create reward items, a combination of skills is usually required.
For example, making Tetsu armor requires 90 Smithing; in order to gather the Plate needed as fast as possible, at least 90 Fishing (The Whaler) and 90 Divination (The Memory) is required - both of their trade good special voyages provide Plate. Access to more adventurers allow you to go on duo adventurer voyages, and even trio adventurer voyages, which offer significantly greater rewards.

=== Tutorial ===
If meeting the level requirement to start the minigame, upon entering the port, you will see a cutscene followed by a brief interactive tutorial, where you meet your 1st adventurer + John Strum + Duncan, to teach you the basics.

I highly recommend playing through the tutorial to learn the mechanics of hiring crew, equipping ships, sending voyages, upgrading your port, etc.

At the end of the tutorial, you receive a Captain's Log, which you can use to check progress and status of many aspects of the minigame when you are not in the port, or to teleport to the port. Then you can start playing the minigame itself.

Via the Captain's Log in inventory or worn in pocket slot, you can send ships remotely from anywhere in the world!

===== Section 14: Introduction to Gameplay 2 =====
Player Owned Ports is a management-based minigame in which the player manages a port, sending out ships to complete voyages to the Wushanko Isles (aka Eastern Lands).

Consider it the spiritual successor of Managing Miscellania in terms of passive gameplay and waiting in real time, but far more player involvement, complexity, and rewards on offer.

Each voyage will have Adversity (difficulty) in 1 or more of the following stats: Morale, Combat, and Seafaring. Next to each Adversity affecting the success of the chosen voyage, a green indicator bar shows the percentage of that Adversity that the player has to overcome.

Players choose a captain, crew members, and ship parts for each voyage that will provide stats to overcome the voyage's Adversity. Those stats may be boosted by port upgrades that have been purchased. Effects earned from the port's random event minigames may be used to provide an additional one-time boost.

The green indicator bars on the voyage and shipyard interfaces indicate the chance of a successful outcome. The chance of a successful voyage is equal to the least indicator.

For example, if Morale was at 100% and Combat was at 30%, then the
chance of success of the voyage is lower of the 2
, which is 30%.

If a voyage is not successful, the ship may be damaged, the crew may be lost at sea, and resources will not be gained, and can even be lost. If the chance of success is low, you are warned that harsher penalties will be incurred if the voyage fails. When the chance of success is high, it is possible to have a partial success and gain some resources (20% of base reward) even if the voyage fails.

The 4th stat, Speed, is different from the other 3 stats. Speed does not affect the success of a voyage, but affects the amount of time (duration) that it takes to complete a voyage.

===== Section 15: Introduction to Gameplay 3 =====
Resources gained from voyages may be used to unlock ship upgrades, upgrade port buildings, or hire more/better crew. Ship upgrades and a varied crew roster allow for more difficult voyages to be successful.

Port upgrades allow you to have more ships operating at a time, boost resources gained from successful voyages, boost ship stats, or improve chances to attract special adventurers and higher quality captains and crew.

=== Rerolls and Reset ===
Standard voyages and crew members available for hire can be rerolled. Rerolling a voyage or crew member for hire immediately replaces it with a new randomly generated one and the replaced voyage or crew member cannot be recovered. The player has a limited number (15) of rerolls available each day.
Unused voyage and crew rerolls do NOT carry over from one day to the next.

The port's random event minigames can award additional voyage or crew rerolls. Each of these rewards will grant an additional 5 rerolls. Rewards do not expire at reset, but if they have been redeemed, any unused rerolls will be lost .

Random event minigame rewards can also grant the ability to reroll visiting adventurers and captains for hire. As with the voyage and crew rerolls, the player will not be able to recover adventurers or captains that are replaced by rerolling. Only adventurers in the port will be replaced, however. If adventurers are currently under way on voyages, a new set of adventurers will be generated in the port and those on voyages will still be able to complete them.

Reset occurs daily reset (00:00 game time), but the effects will not be triggered until the 1st time you log in after reset. Exception is the gossip from the Barmaid, which vanishes with new day, regardless of lobbying, although if it is taken, Barmaid's gossip voyage will remain in the 3rd standard voyage slot.

===== Section 16: Random Events 1: Introduction =====
When a ship returns from a successful voyage, there is a chance that the player will receive a random event. Failed voyages have a very low chance of obtaining a random event.

The chance of getting a random event is higher for voyages that take a longer time (ex: successful voyages in the Shield Region for trade goods have the highest chance).

You may only receive 1 random event in a "day".
The 24 hours between 00:00 game time and the next 00:00. However, you can have a random event waiting from previous days, do that event, check a ship, receive another random event, then do that for 2 events back-to-back. Theoretically, if the time was close to the next day, say 23:50, you could check another ship after the day passes, get another random event, then do that for 3 random events in quick succession. However, the max of 1 random event obtained per "day" will always apply.

A pop-up message in the chat box will alert the player, who will then be able to play a short minigame to earn rewards which can be used in the port. Rewards include special effects that can be applied to voyages, extra voyage or crew rerolls, and the ability to reroll adventurers or visiting captains for hire.

Depending on which event is received, you can trigger the minigame via:
1. Felix the Black Marketeer to play A Simple Favor
2. Surula the Barmaid to play Last Orders
3. Umi the Seasinger to play Helping Hand

The player will be reminded that they have a minigame available by a yellow minigame icon appearing above the appropriate person's head and on the minimap.

To increase chance of getting random event, check your ships one by one, do not check them in quick succession without exiting all interfaces in between. Also, finish any random event before checking ships.

===== Section 17: Random Events 2: Rewards =====
Successfully completed random events will reward 3 various rerolls/effects that can be applied to ships. Possible rewards are:

Adventurer rerolls: Redeeming an Adventurer reroll from the Visitors drop-down menu generates a new set of visiting adventurers and special voyages. Only adventurers in the port will be replaced. Adventurers who are currently out of the port on voyages will remain under way and will be able to complete them. Up to 3 of these can be held.

Captain rerolls: Redeeming a captain reroll from the Visitors drop-down menu immediately replaces the visiting captain for hire. Up to 2 of these can be held.

Crew rerolls: Redeeming a crew reroll reward from the Crew Roster interface adds 5 crew rerolls to the total available. Up to 3 crew reroll rewards can be held. Crew reroll rewards do not expire, but once redeemed, any unused rerolls will be lost at reset.

Voyage rerolls: Redeeming adds 5 voyage rerolls to the total available. Up to 2 voyage reroll rewards can be held. Voyage reroll rewards do not expire, but once redeemed, any unused rerolls will be lost at reset.

Effects: Most effects provide a 1-time boost to a single ship, increasing 1 stat by 10% for a single voyage. Stackable effects may be added up to 3 times each per ship. For example, if your Seafaring is 1,500 but the voyage needs 2,000, you could use 3 Seasinger's Cries for +30% Seafaring (+150 each), increasing the chance of success from 75% to 97.5%.

A Lifeboat is permanent (no crew/captain deaths), but must be applied to each ship individually (4 total).

If you max out some random event rewards, it is still possible to get more from random events, essentially wasting them.

===== Section 18: Random Events 3: Felix the Black Marketeer: A Simple Favor =====
Felix's random event: "The Black Marketeer had a little trouble with some assassins. Speak to him to relive the event." In this short minigame, help the Black Marketeer work off his debt to the Death Lotus Assassins. Take control of Felix and find 3 out of 5 ninjas hiding in various barrels around the dock, then locate and identify each ninja's target.

Only one target can be searched for at a time. The player first searches for a ninja's barrel (easy to identify because top of the barrel is open).

If the player doesn't find a ninja after some time, an arrow will appear pointing to a ninja. Once a ninja is found, a clue hinting at who the target is (one of the Wandering Strangers). Via controlling Felix, identify the correct target; if incorrect, the ninja will give further clues to help narrow the search (wearing a hat or not, what color the top or bottom is, target gender, or style of clothes).

There are no penalties for misidentifying, and no time limit on the number of guesses, so if desired, you can ignore clues and simply click all wandering strangers until the correct one is found.

You can see all remaining ninjas at any time, even though you can only search for one target at a time. Check nearby barrels as you move around the port searching for the correct target. That way you will avoid wasting time running around the port looking for the next ninja.

===== Section 19: Random Events 4: Surula the Barmaid: Last Orders =====
After completing a voyage, players will sometimes receive the following message: "The Barmaid had a tricky time while the Ship was away. Speak to her to relive the events."

For this random event, take control of Surula and serve beer to 20 customers in the bar area, upstairs, and nearby outside, all under the time limit of 10 minutes (usually takes ~2 minutes). Surula can hold only 2 beer glasses at once so she has to return to the bar to get more after serving every 2 customers.

Some of the clients will protest that they did not order any beer, but they will still accept it anyway and will still count toward the event's successful completion. Once a customer has been served, the "Serve Patron" option will no longer appear on the NPC.

This is a good indicator of whether the patron has been served already or not. Visiting adventurers (Biologist, Missionary, Assassin, etc.) will be present in the bar during the event and can be clicked on to offer them beer, but they will always refuse, so they can safely be ignored.

===== Section 20: Random Events 5: Seasinger Umi: Helping Hand =====
When Seasinger Umi's random event is available, the message "Seasinger Umi had a small issue when helping out around port. Speak to her to relive the event" appears in the chat.

After it appears, talk to Seasinger Umi to take control of her and help her with job, which requires finding hidden items around the storehouse of your port.

The warehouse worker will task you with finding 3 items in sequential order, giving you a description of the item needed. They can all be found within crates or barrels on the 2nd floor of the lodge. There is no time limit.
