Jagex would just milk the money for themselves

I personally think they would be much more lax about the mtx but you might be right who knows really.

I would hope. Based on the fact that they've strongly resisted putting MTX in OSRS. I'd hope that they'd want to concentrate on getting large player numbers back into the game and get 300k total players online. Not just 200k with 80-90% of the player base in one game.
Jagex 2019 New Year Resolution... MTX our customers until RS3 SERVER SHUTDOWN PARTY!
The RS3 Community is treated like :@ RUBBISH :@ due to constant TH promotions.

Don't buy keys on Treasure Hunter, if you do Jagex will only make more TH promotions :(

agree with OP.

I am an old man and I was there in Austin when Lord British shut down Origin. It came outta nowhere. My friends reported to work and found the doors locked.
I have quit rsof because moderator found comments about darklight bonus damage on demons "off topic" for wildy flash mobs full of demons

i keep hearing the same crap, MTX is needed to keep the company going, that's so false!

The company was making money a good steady income before these damn investors.

Jagex use the same excuses, games are more expensive to make these days, by having MTX we can invest in better updates.

And what we really got? updates are getting rarer and rarer, patch week after patch week, things are getting shelved or abandoned.

For the record EA used the same excuse, MTX is needed as production is more expensive, but actually, they made more money and cut down developers.

Destiny 2, ever heard of it? it's one of the biggest live games, they just left Activation as they didn't want MTX at the rate activation wanted, and they are doing great.

Shall i also remind you Activation made 1.8 BILLION last year, but for investors that wasn't enough so they let go 800 staff members and they CEO got a 15million pay check.

Once you start getting investors involved they want to see growth after growth, where does it stop? Activation made more then they had in a year and it still wasn't enough for the investors!

I get that treasure hunter is important for the company's revenue but for many players it defies the purpose of playing. When people realise that what they did in 10 years, someone with enough money in real life can do in one day trough treasure hunter it takes away much of the purpose of playing.

In the old days Jagex was all about not letting runescape be pay to win. Real life wealth shouldn't be a deciding factor in how well you did in game. You could be proud of your feats, knowing that anyone competing with you did so trough hard work.

If you want to get 200M all skills fast nowadays, just do flipping. Get yourself 10 alts and start grinding gp. Wait for rainbows end. Buy keys.

I love the game and the grind but treasure hunter is a big drawback. I see people making 200M xp in a day. That would be very hard to do, if not impossible without treasure hunter.

I am exploiting treasure hunter of course since it is already a part of the game. I am slowly getting closer to that blue phat I always dreamed of, and I am buying cheap xp trough treasure hunter with in game wealth.

It is a different game altogether though. Now it is more about wealth and status than the old fashioned grinding which I think all in all is damaging to the game. The damage is already done. They can make less aggressive promotions and balance it better but I cant see any way of reversing the damage.
