"The quickest I gave up so far was at vampire juvinate. Which... what way do we get their soul? Beating angry vampire to death? Instant guthix balance death? "

You can get these on the vampyres up in the canifis woods. I was just walking back and forth from the ectofungus area back to the bank. Didn't take long.

The worst thing is I was killing Jogres because I thought they were the hobgoblin spot. It's been a lot easier since I went and looked up the list.

The drop rate for souls from the higher lvl slay creatures is absolute bs, it's especially bad for the ones with high req and a ton of hp as they have both a low drop rate and each kill takes forever (eg hydrix dragons, mammoths). Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if u got something at 146 souls, but the rewards stop at like 110 so what incentive is there to get that hydrix dragon soul at all besides shitty trim req?

Good news there. I only need to reach 110. So I can skip all the nonsense. I see no point in even using the dungeon for spawns, since I basically have my own world to play on. What are other players????

The ones from sophanem dungeon are the hardest to get it seems. Did a few tasks of crocodiles so far, still nothing. Probably will have to camp them off task if I don't complete the codex before 200m slayer.

4k kc dry on scarab akh. First 2k on task but ran out of points, been camping off-task now still no luck after 2k more kills.

Am 200m slayer with the pet. Not sure whether to do slayer tasks or keep camping off-task this realy is so stupid...

At the moment 7,5k kc. scarab akh, crocodile akh and imperial guard akh left..

Any tips? Are these even possible off-task?

just got lava wyrm and my whole gameplay kc for them is 454. I had done maybe 50 before soul hunting. cost me 3 ushtabi (ushabti? what is that word?) to griefers.

thanks for the tip roddy. will try the ones that dont float away in a fog.

I'm past 5k sophanem kills and working on corrupt worker and imperial ranger for next souls there. I dont know if the "slay bells ring" markers improve your odds, but man... they really ought to.
I have quit rsof because moderator found comments about darklight bonus damage on demons "off topic" for wildy flash mobs full of demons

I do think that some bad luck mitigation could be implemented to account for the rare souls:

What about an ushabti that can be bought for 300 slayer reward points and yields a capture rate based on your KC? For instance, when your kc is lower than the average number needed to get a soul, the ushabti works like a normal one. above this number the capture rate increases, becoming 100% when you have killed twice the number normally needed. The average number needed should be dynamically calculated based on your level and if you are killing the monsters on or off task (bit of coding but should be easy to be honest).

It is a bit of a shame specific corrupted and soul devourer creatures are not checked (or specific gemstone dragons for that matter). I would account for this by having the Ushabti also check the number of souls you have gathered of these creatures so far, calculating the average amount of kills needed for this and how many you would then need for the next soul, to then look at the total number of kills you have.
This does mean that if you were lucky with your first few corrupted souls for instance, you'd still have a lot left to kill for the bad luck mitigation to come into effect.

Overall I would think this is a fair way of addressing RNG issues, while not making the collection too easy (and while also applying a cost). Coding wise I see no big issues with this either.
