Okay first and foremost... its already in the game! Its not even my idea.
an elder rune longsword doesnt do as much damage as a drygore, right?
so... whyhowcome fletching didnt enjoy some of the mine/smith rework so that rune arrows are made at lv 50 fletch, and that orikalkite arrows are made at 60 fletch and used at 60 range?
cause right now its
UNENCHANTED
diamond bolts and dragon bolts at level 60 and thats weeeeeird and expensive for rangers training these days, and it should oughta be true they can use orikalkite bolts and arrows that do just a little less damage, but are high supply from people training fletch, so... yeah.

you kill a hard vindicta and he drops like 50 orikalkite or helwyr and 50 orikalkite spirits... and players dont even want to pick it up cause it doesnt sell for as much as rune spirits... cause fletchers want to make rune arrows, and orikalkite arrows dont exist.
so could/should this go all the way to elder rune arrows that don't do quite as much damage as araxyte arrows? um... yeah! cause that mechanic is already in the game. not my idea.
I have quit rsof because moderator found comments about darklight bonus damage on demons "off topic" for wildy flash mobs full of demons
