You can earn them at the same time as playing. You just have to keep the window open, doesn't have to be your active window. You usually get the keys ~20s into the video, but I play the entire video just to be safe.

My port armor sets is slowly swallowing up my bank, so are those superior scrimshaws I made a long time ago but never use. Any free bank space goes to hoarding bonds.
