S5/4 due to what I feel was the main plot in the series (s5 was originally written as the series finale and it shows imo, as it was the pinnacle).
S1 kind of suffered for me in part because the freak of the week aspect took up too many of the episodes.
S8 is the worst imo just because I wasn't really a fan of the whole prophet/tablet storyline. And S6 just didn't have nearly enough Eve in it.
I think I agree with you there. Season 8 wasn't the best and I heavily disliked Kevin Tran and his constant ways of ruining everything for the Winchesters. Season 9 has been OK so far, however I wish there was less filling and more storyline.
Season 1 was nice and it's what got me so hooked. The "monster of the week" thing I used to like back then because there wasn't a strong storyline set in stone yet, but now that kind of episode is sort of a "blergh" more than anything. Don't get me wrong, I'm still okay with them because most are funny and not just your generic poltergeist/demon killing people.
Yes, Season 5 was definitely the best with Lucifer and the archangels (especially Gabriel).
Leviathans were okay, although the storyline revolving them could've been shorter. But still, I loved it.
Season 6 was a bit annoying with the Lisa and Ben drama, though Crowley is pretty awesome
