Seems like Jagex aren't very creative with abilities, they seem to think abilities are only good if they do lots of damage but you can make abilities good by adding some sort of utility feature to them rather than straight up damage.
Like Natural Instinct is a pretty good ability, it does no damage but it helps you in other areas. Stuns are utility, they don't do damage but they help you win fights.
They could add in other stuff like abilities that reduce the other person healing, or abilities that increase the effectiveness of your healing, or something like a buffed up soul split ability were you steal hp from the other target.
You could have abilities than reduce the targets armour or defence, you could have abilities that reduce the targets max hp, you can have abilities that reduce the rate in which the other target gains adrenaline, you can have abilities that reduce damage taken a bit like severe.
So many possibilities with abilities but they're all like moar damage, everything must do damage and only damage@
