Hi guys, gonna be getting a new laptop (Finally after 4+ years of this potato) in a week or so. I'm bad at picking stuff. My price range is ~500$ or so.

At the moment I have a few I'm looking at but I'm leaning towards this fella:

Acer Aspire V5-552-X814 15.6-Inch Laptop (Cool Steel)

AMD A-Series Quad Core A10-5757M 2.5 GHz (4 MB Cache)
6 GB DDR3
750 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
15.6-Inch Screen, AMD Radeon HD 8650G
Windows 8, 4.5-hour battery life
--------
Screen Size\t15.6 inches
Max Screen Resolution\t1366 x 768 pixels
Processor\t2.5 GHz
RAM\t6 GB DDR3
Hard Drive\t750 GB SATA
Graphics Coprocessor\tAMD Radeon HD 8650G
Graphics Card Ram Size\t512 MB
Wireless Type\t802.11bgn
Number of USB 2.0 Ports\t2
Number of USB 3.0 Ports\t1
Average Battery Life (in hours)\t4.5 hours

-------------

The most intense stuff I need to do is watch movies and scape.

How do you guys think it would fare, or have any suggestions?

I wish I knew what all of this stuff meant so I could help you out >.<

Best of luck Xerdge!

Get at least i5 processor and like 2gb more of ram.

You're done.

Yea I would probably be upgrading the RAM on it.

And I've been trying to figure out the i5 vs AMD, I've not gotten a clear answer on that subject, but since I don't know much about the stuff.... that could be part of the problem

If the most intense stuff you do is RS and movies, then 6gb ram is plenty. I think you would be alright with that processor as well
