To get the best xp you just have to fish where the heaviest fish is called and not assist anything/ignore big fish and quick cast instead of normal casting ZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZEUSZE

You need to go all out for the max xp, but just camping the heaviest area is like 19.5k I think (max is like 22k, but that is perfect score so normally you'd get 21k tryharding). And you don't have to assist but I think its worth your time if you're in a crowded area and you know they are going to haul in their big fish within a second or two. Assisting 10 times gives you extra score but its not much if you don't wanna do it.

If you're doing rocktails you'll make money anyway

You can also just use the tacklebox to bank 500 fish per day for more profit, but putting fish in tacklebox interupts fishing, whereas equipping a new porter with ability bar does not@
