I can't craft fires yet but I just want a rough idea of how much I'd need in order to do so.
Firstly calculate how many rune essence you need to 44. Then calculate actions per inventory (essence per inventory). Get that number and divide:

Number of essence needed / actions per inventory = X

X = number of trips to the bank you'll need to do till 44.

Assuming you bank at Castle Wars, you'll have to multiply x*2 (one charge to tele from fire altar to bank, and a second charge to tele from castle wars to Altar).

This number we'll call 'Y'

Thus:
Y/8 = number of duelling rings you'll need.

Assuming you were wearing a fire talisman, and banking at castle wars via ring which was worn, you'd need 547 duel rings if my maths is correct.
