What benefits does downloading have?

Guaranteed watching without annoying buffering. Can just stockpile on files to watch in case internet goes down. Potentially better quality. Again, more reliable. You only depend on ONE site and one site only. No need to go through the hassle of looking who has the show available.

With your internet speed... I think it's a waste that you're streaming, considering you could be torrenting at massive speeds. (My brother downloads at 2mbps with college internet and he gets full episodes in ~2 minutes).

I don't trust torrents really. Never used torrents before or anything like that. Besides, I'm not really organised with files so the shows would probably end up scattered all over the place eventually, which won't do me any favours.

I don't suffer from buffering issues unless the link is dodgy which is pretty rare. Don't think I'd like downloading the entire doctor who series or supernatural series, and any other series I like. I prefer to stream it and have it available to me.

I can depend on one site with streaming, the site provides me with links to 3rd party sites that stream it, most of which are good links from sites I trust and use often. There's no hassle in it. I just click the show, choose the season and ep, go through a list of 30 versions or so, choose the one I'm familiar with and stream it. Easy enough.

Was thinking of checking out smallville but have heard mixed things about it

Meh only thing I can suggest is watch more than one episode. Speaking from personal experience here, there's been many instances where I've watched ONE ep of a show (breaking bad specifically), found it really boring and disregarded it, however after watching more episodes I started to get hooked into the story and enjoy it.

Some shows just take more than one episode to attract your attention, especially since some shows tend to be slow at telling the main story and so on. Don't judge a show based on a pilot episode, you'll miss out that way if you do. :P
