So I just soloed a geyser. It's really good xp, especially for powering through a mining pendant if you have one.

You get like 787.5 xp or so per hit with a pend, 525 with just mining suit. Multiply that by 30 hits, and you've got 23,625 or 15,750 mining xp for a min of work. It makes up for having to run around solo and find the 50% spot, but I doubt its better than powermining gold deposits. Still thought it was worth sharing. If you can keep track of when it respawns on your world, maybe it could be an advantage?
