So.. no stacking up currency in case jagex decides to expand on tech trees in the future?
And how am I supposed to change my allignment to dwarfs if I can no longer gain goblin currency to pay for the switch?

Yeah, that was what I was thinking too. It looks like they're going to try to time lock again when they introduce more trees. (sigh)
