It's just OSRS, really. Old-school because of the graphics and combat system. It's the most fitting name for that version of the game.

2007scape is a silly name to give it now that it has new stuff, some of which didn't exist in that specific year. 2007scape would only be acceptable if everything in-game actually resembled what existed in-game in the year 2007. Since it decided to take its own direction, it's no longer 2007scape. .

Ofc, it needed updates to survive. If it was a no-update type of game, the boredom would have killed off the majority of the OSRS population. Nostalgia only lasts so long before you start craving something new and refreshing. .

I'd love to see how popular ironman mode would be if it came out before OSRS. I know a lot of people just simply don't want to restart an account for the 4th time
