Well, in a way, you can't blame them because Jagex are known to actually kill content. If people read something "unusual", the first assumption is they've killed it. Players lack faith in Jagex
Jagex's problem: they leave unintended things out there for way too long. It makes everyone embrace the "lazier" way, so when it's gone, they get mad because they've become accustomed to it.
It seems like Reddit played a part in the nerf, at least that's what everyone is assuming on Reddit, hence the "X is amazing goddamn" threads :d .
