You can get SFX power supplys above 700w, so I'm pretty sure they would fit
You can also get an R9 Nano, or an ITX version of a GTX 970, both of which I would guarantee fit in your case.
e: Oops forgot to reply to the first bit of your post - When did you last check for compatibility issues? I'm sure they might've been fixed by now, but who knows. I am not much of an indie gamer though.

Had a glance at the gpu prices online and theyre around the $750 AU mark. Havent really got that money at the moment.
This PCs model is some variant of an aspire M3970 with i7, HD6570, 8gb ram and 2TB HDD
Its a pretty small tower imo. 15.8" deep. 15" high. 7" wide.
Another thing I dont really know if its an issue is the 2600 being non k. Something about that meaning Im locked to the current motherboard incase anything has diff plugs on newer stuff.
Accidently surged up a dinosaurs ass, became stuck then activated double surge and burst out its chest alien-style!
Got his dragon mattocks then crashed the clan citadel into Anachronia wiping out the dinosaurs.
You'll be locked to that current motherboard's chipset (near enough) regardless of whether your chip is k or not k - the "k" just means it's unlocked and you can turn the clocks up. Overclocking requires a special chipset (usually prefixed with "z", the non-overclocked version is usually prefixed with a "h" or a "b", these just mean they have features turned off to make the board cheaper to manufacture... I mean, what's the point in enabling overclocking, QA'ing it, etc, when you aren't going to use it?
)
Unless your board is some tiny one, you can usually add new stuff via "PCI-e expansion cards", more usually USB 3/3.1 (type c) if you need it, or even an NVMe SSD if you are pushing the boat out
