Ok Jag, these first few words upon launching this vid, or the words uttered at 0:20 in ought to sum it: https://youtu.be/iFPmUc34JNk?t=20
Ya'll are a games developer that is unfortunately unable to develop games because you are held back and haunted by your one trick pony. No matter how ambitious you are, no matter how much money you throw at it, no matter how innovative and passionate you are about it, whatever big new ideas you think up and have planned...the pathetic, tragic sad truth is...it will fail. And has failed. Many times.
Does it mean ya should give up and not bother? Well, I dunno. But. There's gotta be something there that makes ya go 'just stop' surely? Can ya even call yourself a 'gameS developer' anymore? I hope this time it succeeds for ya'll, genuinely cuz I would feel so disheartened at every effort to progress and end the 'curse of RuneScape' and not be dragged back to the drawing board / milking cow of Gielinor but...ehhhh...history doesn't really fill me and others with much confidence, and I'm guessing a few heads be shaking about that in the office too.
Then again, your investors invested in you as a 'gameS developer' and expect you to develop new gameS - so I guess you gotta keep trying. I just wonder when enough will be enough and you resign to the fact you can't move on from RS. You probably want to, hell I'd probably go so far as to say some of you probably hate the game to some extent, or parts of it, or the playerbase. You won't ever admit to that obviously, what sane business would slag off or say or suggest anything even remotely negative about their customers in public, but I'll bet it's there, especially when said customer/playerbase are what make or break your next project, and deem whether it will be a success or another notch on the bow of development failure. And we too are too up our own butts with nostalgia or weird mix of 'passion' for RS that we don't want anything to be taken away from it too, is part of the problem.
