How many have you done now?
177 Elites on the counter with some done before it but I really have no idea how many.
I know it's not too much but my best reward ever is about 600k and it's just getting frustrating.

Well, the rewards that you want are extremely rare, so it's likely you won't get them. But to sound less demotivating, I recently calculated that my profit rate from 500 treasure trails (260 hard + 240 elite) averages at around 1m gp per hour, excluding any extremely rare rewards. So that's not bad actually.
