If you're doing something on OSRS that requires most of your attention, then you'd want to pay as little attention to RS3 as possible. Even though you could just split screen (or better with more monitors), it's still more convenient to be able to see what's being said in your RS3 clan on the OSRS client as opposed to switching to the RS3 client, or moving your eyes across the screen/looking at 2nd monitor to see what was said in clan.
