It revolves around James Gordon's days before Batman arrives; Bruce Wayne as a child features as a recurring character and many of the cases Gordon has worked on thus far has been directly or indirectly related to the death of Bruce's parents.
Several of the villains known from the Batman universe have parts in it too, particularly the penguin.
