Yes
Only one will naturally attack you at a time, but if you use AoE/cannon, more will attack you.

Summoning pillars cost money but they're fast... Sort of the same scenario!

I'm fine with buyables tbh, so much nicer than Agility, Hunter, Fishing, Mining.. etc etc. I like Combat / Slayer though.
