This poll made me think again about what I'm playing Runescape for...why am I still here?
I'm going to college in 2 weeks. I feel like there is no point to training my skills anymore when there are literally many thousands more who will have achieved 99 "whatever skill" and nobody will think anything of it when you have that cape on. Why put in 200+ hours making cash and training when it will have all been worthless in the grand scheme of things anyway? You'll just wind up feeling no self satisfaction because you'll walk into a bank with your 99 "whatever cape" and see 2 or 3 others with the exact same cape. It really is discouraging and prevents me from wanting to bother with 99's such as runecrafting, slayer, herblore, and construction.
The whole point of this poll is "motivation"...so if you want to renew the motivation for 99ing these skills, then I suggest updating skills to have plenty of high level, untradeable content. Soul split and Turmoil prayers, for example, were a perfect start. So were overload and extreme potions. Things like this have made me consider training those skills for those abilities, but not all the way to 99.
So please, get rid of skill capes being the primary motivation for a 99. It really isn't that cool anymore. It is more like a nice gift on the side for achieving 99 if anything. The real motivation should be what you can do with the skills...and right now the vast majority of 99's are useless. High level content is improving, but 99 content is still at a stand-still.

Thought I might post here this week because you guys seem so very keen for me to do so
. Umm, yeah, I just wanted to say I love the light-heartedness in all the polls, and in RuneScape generally - 'Love Story' is one of my favourite quests because it made me literally laugh out loud. Special mention goes to all the J-Mods in-game and on forum; always amusing.
I sometimes couldn't care less about the content of the polls but I know reading them will make me smile so I play along anyway.
