I reckon most players are pretty competitive whether it's getting the most money, most capes, finest outfits, highest clan ranking. Probably also explains some of the 'Noob'/'kid' remarks we hear, too, to suggest one player is superior to another.

Personally, I like getting lots of levels and I get a buzz when I find I'm ranked higher in the High-scores league than other players with a higher in-game (combat) level - and it happens a lot :) .

But, I don't really see the need for money or fancy outfits, although I know loads of others do.

Vive La Difference, eh?

I think the polls now better relate to how the players really think. Sometimes doing some of the other polls I noticed that none of the options really suited me, so I had to pick other.

Also I was curious how many players "roleplay" and get absorbed in the game and this poll kind of answered it.

OK, I said in today's survey that I would post a comment so here it is. I think this is the first time I've ever posted in forums.

One reason I like to play RS is that my other family members play to so we have a good time competing against each other or helping each other out.

Awesome poll, I liked how some of the answers were humorous ^_^

I think you should make more polls like this, ones that would be about how we like to play, or what we think the best aspects of the game are and how we think you can improve. :D

I liked the latest poll. It sort of defines how players play the game. I was hoping there was a question of what motivates you to play the game most and what type of character you are for example, quester, pker, pure etc.

So...

I answered "none of the answers given" for "how do you feel about your character" because none of them really fit.

I designed my character's appearance on aesthetic appeal. So, he really doesn't look much like me, although I do feel connected to him while playing.

To me, he is akin to a limb. I can maneuver him how I wish, and he acts as an extension of me, in this created universe. And, to further the analogy, if I were to lose him, I would feel like an amputee for a while. As if he were a hand that had been cut off.

The next question... I'm pretty hooked into the game while I play. I'm focused, and care about what's happening, and lose track of time while playing, but I don't feel like I'm literally there.

Next... I play Runescape for a lot of reasons.

First, it's a great way to pass the time. But, beyond that, there's so much to do, and so much that's added, that I can keep doing whatever seems fun without getting overly bored. And I do feel like I'm accomplishing something by leveling up, even though I'm really not.

So I answered quite a few of the options.

I've been playing for a long time, on and off. I'd say over six years, but I'm not certain.

So... Yeah, there you go. More detailed poll feedback. Enjoy.

I would have to agree with the person above me, My character is an like an extension of my arm. I enjoy doing combat, and training skills but i always remember that runscape is indeed a game, and not a way of life. But, I enjoy playing it all the same.

In response to the recent poll, I see my character's motivation as primarily a desire to protect the innocent and do good, mixed with an insatiable curiosity. It is role-playing, like any other RPG: I have decided my character has this motivation, so this is what he would do in this situation. Some parts of the game, like repetitive skill training, are less deep in the role-playing side of it, but I see it loosely as my character honing his skills to make himself better at protecting the innocent, exploring, etc. Also, talking to other players, I always talk as myself.

I see my character as an amnesiac who woke up on the shore of the Tutorial Island training facility with no memory of his past and earned the nickname GripHilt for his skill and tenacity at fighting with a blade. He has recently become slightly more skilled with a bow than a sword, but the nickname had stuck by then and the reasons for it are still valid. He thinks of himself as Larvald, the name he was given after completing the Fremennik Trials.

As far as Thieving is concerned, there are reasons Larvald sees various individuals and organizations as personal enemies, for example the corruption of Ardougne and the cold lack of respect from the Master Farmer in Draynor market, so he sees nothing wrong with stealing from them. While his moral compass is slightly crooked, he always stays true to it.
