Interesting pole choice. Anyway...
My character is almost completely like me, except that I do not have blue hair... but that would be so cool if I did.
Anyway, I generally act the same in game as I do as a person: I don't involve myself with other people, and nobody bothers with me. (Of course that doesn't mean that I don't have a dance-off every once in a while
)
I stay interested in the game because it never really ends and I can stay with it no matter how busy I get, but at the same time it has depth and you can make it an intense 12- hours a day type of thing if you really wanted.
I also love quests and how the quality of graphics and depth have increased over the years. The regular updates are definetly the reason I am still playing, without them I'd be gone. Dungeoneering has also got me playing a lot more lately.
I could go on because I love so much about this game, keep up the good work.
I've been playing for a long time, and I've had a great expierince since I started in 2006, I don't feel like leaving the game just yet.
As for my character, it is just somthing I control. I've made it wear stupid armour and costumes, I've even turned it into a girl a couple of times, but if I was the character in the game.... well....

this poll was great. it reminds me why i love this game and have played it for so long. in the past few months or so ive kinda lost interest in playing hardcore like i did years ago. and i think my time with runescape is slowly comming to an end. but thats ok because right now i still do enjoy playing and talking with friends, and taking on new challanges. this game is awesome and will continue to be a popular game for years to come. keep up the good work jagex!

» We'd love to hear more from you regarding your answers. Would you be so kind as to pay us a visit on our official thread at QFC: 103-104-0-60836872?
- Since you asked so nicely...sure!
So.. here I am.
» How do you feel about your in-game character?
- They're quite like me. At least, it's how I'd like to be if I was in RuneScape for real
I like to pretend Gielenor is real, and that I'm actually in it. I love the lore, and combine it with other stories to daydream about sometimes. Escapism <3
» How involved do you feel you are during your time in RuneScape?
- I enjoy playing to pass the time while doing other things, but I'm not usually totally focused on it
I have a community to run, just chatting while I play rs, or I'm coding something for our site, or I'm checking the updates on that lolcat site. Or I got assignments to do, exams to study for.. I rarely fully focus on RS, when I do I'm probably doing a quest with some epic storyline
» What do you think keeps you coming back to RuneScape
- Pretty much all options except the minigames, dress ups, and competitiveness
As I wanted to tell Zenevivia (but couldn't), I quest because of curiosity. Because it's there and I haven't done it yet, and I want to know if there are any additions to my fav storylines. I don't care about fame, or rewards, or even about Mabel (someone tell her to grow up already!), I just want to know where this new adventure will take me
But mostly its that community I've mentioned before, I love it dearly, I've made some friends for life there, and some I've never even met. It just works to combine it with Scape. That's also caused by the socialness of Scape.. If it was single player game I'd never still be doing it. And on top of all that, the lore keeps me interested.
» Roughly how long have you been playing RuneScape?
- Almost 9 years now.. I've never really quit.. I can see myself playing this 10 years on too. :S
Say, wasn't this considered to be asking for personal details?
I love RuneScape... somehow it hits all the right buttons that the other MMOs miss by miles. Sure, there have been periods when I don't log in for months when life takes over or some great new game comes out, but I always get drawn back.
I think it's beauty is that you can be casual and an achiever at the same time. There are whole subcultures who focus on one skill or minigame and excel at it, with no need to persue the other skills they find boring. In any traditional MMO you're stuck in a linear cycle of level 1 to level cap followed by having nothing to do except raid. Yeeurgh. I've paid for 'lifetime' membership of a couple of games that seemed so promising at first but their gameplay becomes so monotonous after a while. In RS any time it looks in danger of becoming boring there are fifty other things you could be doing instead. Awesome
Now having a child to look after the ability to dip in and out is essential. Much as I'd love to lose myself in the game for hours, it just isn't possible. Not needing to group for most activities makes this the one MMO where play and childminding can be combined. Nobody else need be inconvenienced when it's time for a nappy change or to mix up a bottle. It makes bossing or dungeoneering tricky but almost everything else is feasible.
I just hope you keep doing what you do and releasing great new content of all kinds. It's been a long time between skills, I hope you can keep thinking of new ones to release without such long intervals in future.
