Some do, some don't - it's up to the staff member's personal preference, really.
I won't comment on which ones look the most accurate as I'd probably get myself in trouble. :p

Some of us have our actual names, some of us have pseudonyms. Again, this is partly down to personal preference; also there are only eight characters left after 'Mod_' so it's not always possible for everyone to get their own name any more.
Ilona is just that particular (ex-)staff member's first name. Maybe you're thinking of Mod Liono (named for Lion-O from Thundercats)?
