Hey team,
It is with great sadness that I announce my departure from Jagex at the end of this week; working at Jagex was always my dream and I honestly cannot believe I am here writing this.
For me, RuneScape has always been such an incredibly important part of my life – it’s helped me make life-changing decisions, meet friends who have helped me grow personally and more importantly shape me to become the person I am today. (Some would even say RuneScape made me a better person, but I would not rather give them credit for that! 😉 )
It’s absolutely crazy that I’ve been in a position to say I worked on a game that I love, working at Jagex has been instrumental in my career and life progression so I want to say thank you to everyone at Jagex who made me feel so welcome.
Some of my highlights of working here have been running my Personal Jagex Tours, Player-Focus Groups and Research; these have been so impactful and absolutely awesome to participate in – these have varied from [REDACTED], to designing monsters for Land Out of Time and we even managed to get feedback on [REDACTED].
Taking time to work with players on a personal and face to face experience has been so enjoyable, meeting people whose passion for RuneScape was on similar levels to mine was always amazing. There are so many players who I have openly connected with and I wouldn’t have ever been able to do it without this role.
Besides working with players face to face, another huge achievement of mine was running the eBay Charity Auctions. These Charity Auctions have been success after success and because of you guys – we have managed to help and save lives because of your wonderful donations; my first Auction raised just over a staggering £36,000 and it’s only gone up from there.
When I first started at Jagex, I used my TAPP time to dabble and experiment with the code – allowing me to release my first ever update into the game being the “Motherlode Maw Improvements” even having the opportunity to create my very own pet, “Diddykin”. From there I had the opportunity to write Lore Books and I’m proud to save I even created my own planet in “Ocularis” – giving a backstory and a home to the Stalkers; I’ve left some ideas with the lore council which opens up so many exciting opportunities for the future of the Stalker Race if they get round to doing it. It was awesome to expand on Vicendithas and give him a backstory that was both compelling and troubling, and I one day hope he and his father can reconcile.
One of the most incredible moments of my Jagex Career was to have my face on the RuneScape homepage – sounds silly I know, but it was such a dream come true for me. Being a player for most of my life, and to then suddenly see myself smack bang in the middle of the homepage banner was such a giddy feeling.
I’d also like to thank my FMod Team and the PMod Teams who have been under me for the past few years, all of you have been inspiring assets to the community and have made me so proud; each one of you have put so much time and effort into the communities you serve and should all be so pleased with the work you have done – I’ll always be rooting for you.
I want to give a huge shoutout to my Clan “The LGBT Corner” who have been such an awesome team of people during my time here. They have had huge impact on the LGBT RS Playerbase – making a safe space of LGBT+ people on the little world of RuneScape gaining people from across the globe.
Thank you to all the players who have supported me and been involved in what I’ve done – and to those of you who I didn’t encounter… thank you for being a member of one of the most amazing online communities in the galaxy.
