A lot of the tasks that we're doing are completely fine without JMod accounts which have limitations of their own, such as only being able to access them while connected to Jagex's internal network. (Which is also one of the reasons why JMods might not frequent the forums as much, they can only access them inside the office.) We're able to use our LMod accounts on any device, PC, mobile phone, etc, whereas if we were using JMod accounts, we'd be limited to only using it while using a remote desktop connected to Jagex's network (which we already have access to for other Jagex-related purposes - but I'd prefer not to use a remote desktop honestly, as it's much slower lol.)

Our LMod accounts have virtually all of the same forum permissions as a JMod account anyway.

Working on the forums only one of the various tasks that we do to assist the Community Management team, and a lot of what we do don't actually require an account with a different coloured crown and a "Mod" prefix in the username.

We do however have other employees in the same office as us that are using JMod accounts for Player Support, which certainly requires some elevated privileges.

We're certainly a part of the extended-Jagex team, and considering that Jagex is paying my salary, I don't think a gold crown is entirely necessary for me to call myself a "JMod". I have an official @Jagex.com email address that's used for internal purposes, so that's enough reassurance for me that I'm working with Jagex.

When our Jagex point of contacts handover some additional tasks that actually require the use of a JMod account, it'll be pretty easy to get us set up with them, but for now, I'm not entirely sure that it's necessary to bug their IT team for a gold crown. Community Manager for Jagex

Well let's set a few records straight here.

Firstly, JMods don't frequent these forums because, well, they prefer social media. That whole thing about only accessing JMod accounts from the office stemmed from an incident about a decade ago where Paul Gower carelessly let his "Paul" account get compromised, so as a stop-gap measure they implemented that policy.

Second, when it comes to speed and processing power, nothing beats a desktop system. Sure, iPads and whatnot are neat and convenient for on-the-go, but they don't stack up to an actual computer.

Third, this Mod Cam person posted last September a thread that is sinking down to the bottom of page 1 of this subforum that the "new LMods" would be receiving JMod accounts "next week". This was followed up with a nebulous post saying the person who assigned JMod accounts was "on vacation", then he just...disappeared. So it appears as I stated that that was a placating gesture on the part of Jagex to tell the unintelligent masses to blindly obey the LMods.

Fourthly, you are an employee of Keywords Studios, not Jagex Limited. While I wouldn't claim to know what your pay stub says I find it hard to believe that Jagex pays you directly. Face it - you're a subcontractor paid to do a job that Jagex themselves can't be bothered to assign manpower to.

And fifth, your claim that "it'll be pretty easy to get us set up with them" holds no water because as stated you guys were supposed to get them ELEVEN MONTHS AGO.


So don't piss down our backs and tell us that it's raining, please.

I believe that I've been quite open and honest since I've joined the team, and have always been happy to address any questions/concerns as best as I can with the information that I have. Whenever there's any relevant developments in regards to us CM's and our tasks and/or accounts, we'll happily communicate them to everyone.

Hey team,

I can see this is getting quite heated and this is a real shame. The LMod Team are imperative for the Forum Health, similar to how the FMod Team work in tandem with us.

It's true it was said that they would get JMod Accounts ASAP, however there have been many complications during this period and it's not happened as of yet. It's proving difficult to ensure accounts are sorted, as we have to follow very specific (and often legal) criteria when it comes to outsourced staff members.

Many of the team do prefer Social Media, and being honest that's a pretty accurate assumption - Social Media is easier to communicate to the masses, and has no restrictions. As an example I can't login to the Forums at home while I'm watching Netflix, I can tweet or browse Reddit as there is no restrictions on that. So of course Social Media is one of our priorities, as there are thousands of players who read our tweets / posts when they go live.

There are many of us who would love it if JMods could login to Forums from home, but that is not something that would be allowed for safety reasons.

At Jagex, we consider the LMod Team one of our greatest assets, and abuse against them will not be tolerated.

I hope this clears some stuff up,
