They finally posted the results, and there are 2 logos that clearly stand out, the skull and the crown, These stood out because they are the most generic logos I could have possibly thought of winning in a competition. Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought they wanted original ideas that they wouldn't have guessed themselves which is why they started a competition to get awesome ideas from the players... I waited that long to see predictable logos like a CROWN and a SKULL win a COMPETITION? I'm sorry but if you had to hold a COMPETITION to get ideas like a crown and a skull, that is messed up, the other ones are original and awesome but you should have picked two more original ones in the place of those really generic two... Congratulations to the winners but those two results and this waiting time seems like part of a serious joke to me.

I'm inebriated and in a foreign country, and was about to get myself banned from the forums observing the very same thing.
I'm disgusted, Jagex, I am. Yeah, I can live with me not winning. I am not the greatest artist in the world, and as many of my images were religious in nature, I could see them being fairly "controversial" (forgetting, of course, the number of crosses in Runescape)...but to beat out by A SKULL AND CROSSED SWORDS? Should I have just drawn a castle, or a horse head, or a damnable shield instead of spending DOZENS OF HOURS making complex and interesting symbols? You chose a Skull and Swords? A CROWN?
If you ACTUALLY needed someone to submit a crown as an entry, then you CERTAINLY aren't at the cutting edge, and really shouldn't be considered as anything more than a tertiary company...that's almost like having a contest for new "exotic" weapons, but giving the submitter of the longsword the prize.
That's insane.
I am very disappointed.
I didn't expect to win, but I DID expect to see something impressive and worth choosing. COME ON! I know that mine weren't the most original, but they were FAR more so than a crown or skull and cross swords - both of which are literally the epitome of generic medieval.
Ugh.
Well, at least I'll be riding elephants and marring exotic women.
Still, though; I'll have you know that you have lost much respect in my eyes. The Phoenix, Fool mask, and Angel-Devil skull were all pretty good, yes. But seriously? You're kidding, right?

Congratulations to winners.
However I'm also very disappointed, I thought jagex wanted something new and different, the current winners design are far to generic in my opinion and they give nothing new...
We waited so long to see what? These?
I might swell have just gone on another MMORPG and looked at their logos to see what jagex would add next.
Sorry but I'm very disappointed.

well the clown the phoenix and the bull were pretty decent but seriously! the crown and the skull for origional concepts are must i say pretty bleep. and so far quite a few people agree jagex you may have to take back the results think for a few more days and then give us some real winners. I must say we waited over a month for this... jagex i have just lost like 25% of my respect for you and thinking about how much respect i had before thats alot.

I'll complain too.
The 1st logo, I can't even tell what it is but it's not generic so I like it. The Phoenix logo is sick and the rest are dumb and generic.
I did not expect to win, but I thought the winners' ideas would actually be better than mine. But, they aren't.
I won't participate in anymore of yalls stupid drawing competitions anymore cuz the thousands of entries that had more work in them got soooo under-appreciated.

Also, I was going to do the Carnival Player Gallery thing [cuz I live in NOLA] but it's a good thing I didn't cuz when I draw something that resembles Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street with dragon-style floats and people in all types of RS masks throwing coins * beads to the crowd, yall wouldnt pick it cuz its not the true Carnival in France.

So, give more recognition to the 100s [or 1000s?] of other people that participated by creating a page with all the pictures the competition participants sent it. It should load up like pictures on Flickeriver do. Or is that too challenging for yall to do? :)

I still think the National Guard of Runescape logo is simple yet very much a part of RuneScape since 2003.
We simply took the compass on the side of the minimap. Added perfect symmetrical lines to make triangles pointing in all 8 directions. An 8 sided star with a circle around that.
We've sent the idea in when this thread went up. We've even made this logo in some fashion on World of Warcraft for our guild (National Guard of Gaming).
But it all started from here, from this game, thanks to Jagex design and the good old compass. ;)
