As a player of this game for 7 odd years I think middle ground must be found on this subject. We can't walk into a decision this huge with an "all or nothing" approach.
I would personally love to see free trade and the wilderness come back - but at the same time I'm 17 years old now and have the capacity to suspect scams and tricks when it comes to the wilderness and trading. I was scammed many, many times back in the days of the old Runescape, where it was very easy to switch 3.2 Million with 32K. That said, the last time I was scammed? About 4 years ago, when I just turned 13.
It's my opinion that anyone who signs up for the game as being under 13 years of *** should be put in "restricted worlds." These select worlds should have the trade limit as well as the lack of wilderness. I'm also very fond of the idea of a player encountering random events that taught the player about the dangerous areas of Runescape and the consequences that come of dying in areas like the wilderness. Obviously, some sort of small reward should come with these random events that way the player doesn't mindlessly click "next," every time one of these events comes up. At least this would give a new player the chance to educate themselves before they are allowed into the dangerous worlds.
As for countering bots and gold sellers, I am still pondering.
So until next time,
