I'd would quit collecting eggs if I was you, you know that you are not supposed to be in there, that is possibly bug abuse.

If your inside the event you can, the entrance in port sarim is gone now. But whatever eggs you collect now won't count towards the top 100. As the last data/number capture has been taken. As far as I know, you can keep gaining xp and gp inside the event that is all. I myself collected 1.1m gp a couple minutes after 00:00 today.

I was able to as well. Basically you are still in the event until you log. The entrance has been removed from the game, so once you leave, you cannot get back in.
