I think the chiefs at Jagex had the idea of getting Jmods more into the player experience; we all enjoy the novelty of seeing them and perhaps they thought this idea would bring a closer relationship between players and developers. The reality is that they are employees, they don't want to be near us, they rarely converse with the players when they are on (and who can blame them the way they get flamed) and can't wait to log off and get back to work.
Secondly, they do not wish to work at weekends or evenings, for a worldwide game the times they have worked have slotted conveniently into the european working week, which suits only the JMods not the players who are either at school or work.
I don't blame the JMods, they (like me) have their own life, but given how the promotion has been set up, it needs them to be on "stamping" far more of the time, 10-20% of the time, suiting all time zones and this is clearly not happening.
Therefore I have to conclude that the promotion is a failure, it has caused more anger and disappointment than it has brought happiness and player satisfaction.
