They quit because the game had become boring.
(Also the cynic in me has to ask whether this is to give Jagex more control over any negative videos in those players' channels: "Only say nice things or you'll get demodded"

Edit: Just want to clarify that this isn't an anti-Dan post, more a disappointment in Jagex that they're hopping on to other people's work in an attempt to validate the 'Year of the Player'. There again, I suppose they need to get players to do more of the work seeing as they're laying off and losing staff at such a high rate.
