Odd competition with some vague guidelines IMO.
'RUNE'Cats
When I see that; I think, 'OH! A CAT SOMEHOW INCORPORATED WITH SOMETHING NOTABLE IN RUNESCAPE!'
The 3rd place winner vaguely captured that concept while 2nd and 1st just looked seemingly generic. While I understand you had previously noted that meshing RuneScape into your animal photo somehow garners extra 'points'; (lol, bullhockey) I would never thought after a ridiculous amount of time deliberating had you chosen the winner as a picture I see on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr every fifth post.
Cute competition or not, poor choice of a winner for something that took 2 weeks+ to determine. Just kind of disappointing, is all. You would imagine with how much time you all spend on social networking sites that you would look at the 1st place picture, and instantly note: *Cute but generic. Next.*

And yes, the first place 'winner' like above noted is a complete cheat. I only see that picture every single day of my life posted by thousands of people and it's been floating around on the internet for quite some time. If it was in fact somehow taken by the original poster, good for them. Love to see some proof.
If not, shame on you if you don't do anything about the cheat and let them get away with it.

I assumed the first place was a bit of a sham. Like I said, I've seen that picture a lot before. Not just that style of picture, but like I said... THAT picture. It's a shame when people have to do that.

I didn't see my image, and I'm surprised. I'd love to know how many votes it got. May not be winner quality... but at least mine was also original and a bit amusing.
I'm doing image comparison searches from the first place photo found on the users' twitter and it is digging up crazy amounts of old posts all through the net with the very same picture. I'd love to see how old this photo is. The fact alone that I can find it with simplistic key words on a google search is incredibly disheartening. You should've looked more into it, because the 1st placeman has either A) an 'original' picture with is flooded onto the internet or B) a plagiarized picture.
Also... on the users' twitter he posts some awfully random pictures. One of which is of a Macbook keyboard. Different model / keyboard.. also pictures of different cats, neither of which are in the winning photo. Come on guys...

'Entering the competition is easy - tweet a picture of YOUR cat'
'You must have taken the photo yourself – downloading a cat photo from
the internet would be lame.'
Just saying. I'm not letting this go until there is some logical response that isn't copypasted hooha from a JMod. I want an explanation, and a reasoning behind why that picture won when it now and even then seemed fairly obvious that it wasn't following the rules too kindly.
If I had seen that picture pre-results I would have called it out. It looked too generic. After jogging my memory I realized I see it at least once or twice a week in my life while cycling through social networking sites laced with people posting random photos.
