Keep it on topic please, and yes, I would like seeing this added to the forums, there are already so many awesome ideas flying around that I couldn't possibly think of anything better.
I'll just sit here and let the magic happen (things I like tend to catch fire anyway) :(

This sounds like a great idea! And I like the bit about the caption contest with a picture. I think that in the newsletter we should have a little "shout-out" section.
It could be a little section where we can feature random people in-game. Or maybe even have little contests to be featured.
For example, "best looking avatar" or "nicest person". Or maybe even things like who gained the most points or ranks in any of the minigames for the past week.
Good luck with the newsletter! I'm excited to read one.

Hi guys,
I have been working with Paul to pull together all your ideas and see what we can do. So, we have gone through every idea in this thread, catergorised it, put it in a spreadsheet, stamped it, sent it, sent it back, signed it in triplicate, buried it in soft peat for six months and recycled it as firelighters.
So, out of all your ideas, here are the ones that we are excited about.
  • Your questions answered - Answering the questions that you want answers too.
  • This Month/week in CM - a short precis
  • J-Mod interviews - You send in questions, we answer them.
  • J-Mod Choob Blogs - What J-Mods get up to on their normal accounts.
  • RuneScape Heroes - Interviews with, or columns by the most famous players.
  • Pick of the events - What are the hottest events of the week.
  • Caption competition.
  • Puzzles - really really difficult ones!
  • Thread of the week - a featured thread every week.
  • Clan Review - a review of the clan community.
  • Sports section - News of the Gnomeball Leagues and the wrestling federations.
  • Lore plus - more indepth lore written by the development team.
  • Classified Ads - Advertise, pretty much what you want here.
  • Economy section - what are the hot buys and what should you be selling.
  • F2P - articles from the free to play community.
  • Interviews - An interview with a random player... that is doing something cool.
  • Story time - a story taken from the story forums.
  • Boss obituaries - How many of what boss has been killed.
  • Event reviews - reviews of recent events.
  • Quest reviews - what you think of the quests you play.
  • Bygone days - takes of the old days written by our longest playing players.

Obviously, things may change, we may include other things or decide that something should be edited... but we'd love to know what you think so far.
Also, as a bit of a sneak preview, here is the first mock up of how it may look. Needless to say, it is likely to change a lot before it is ready. ;)

The RuneScape Tattler

News People Previews Reviews Puzzles & Games Sport Adverts

this is cool Menagerie, Familiar Controls and Butlers
First off, all combat familiars will now follow you into a fight much more promptly. We’ve also updated the Summoning status globe (the button near the minimap) so that you can configure what happens when you left-click on it. One of the many options will allow you to send your familiar into action against an NPC (or another player on a PvP World) with just one quick click.
If you want a place to keep your pets, you can now do this with a new room for Construction - the menagerie. It’s a pet-owned house to complement your player-owned one, if you will, in which you can store a number of fully grown pets of any kind. You could create a haven for all three god birds, for instance, or build your very own little dragons’ den.

Machima Contest
Did you know that “RuneScape” is one of the top five terms searched for on YouTube? As such, we like to check out the latest films made by the many RuneScape movie boffins out there. They’re so good, in fact, that we’ve teamed up with one of RuneScape’s most talented machinima (films made with game engines) masterminds, TehNoobShow, to launch a competition to seek out the most entertaining player-made RuneScape video known to humankind. The rules are simple: create an original video short (around two minutes) that’s both entertaining and creative, in the RuneScape game.
The competition launches today, and you have until the closing date of 25th August to submit your videos on the YouTube website. When the entries are in, Andrew, Mark Gerhard and some video-hungry members of the Community Management team will then shortlist five finalists. Those five videos will then feature in a RuneScape weekly poll, allowing the community to choose their favourite.

Phoenix fun!
To begin completing tasks in your Achievement Diary, talk to one of the NPCs named at the top of the scroll.
There are three categories of task: Easy, Medium and Hard.
Easy tasks might require some quests to be complete, but they will generally be low level quests. Almost any player should be capable of completing all of the easy tasks.

Medium tasks may require a few more quests, be in more dangerous locations, or require several of your skills to be advanced.
Hard tasks may not appear difficult on first glance, but they may require you to enter incredibly dangerous areas, to have completed Master Quests, or to survive through all the horrors.

In Pyre Need
As adventurers who have completed In Pyre Need will know, the phoenix lives at the far end of a series of caverns. Since being restored to health, however, the phoenix has instructed its servants to do their utmost to defend these caverns. Anyone wishing to enter the phoenix's presence now has to battle their way through these massive, magma-filled monstrosities.
There are three types of guardian, one for each point of the combat triangle, with Combat levels up to 128. All of the caverns are multicombat areas, so it is possible to be attacked by many of the reborn guardians at once - a dangerous prospect!

The preview is looking pretty good. ;)
The ideas that were chosen are good ones. I especially like the interview a random player - that could be really interesting!
I also like the name of the newspaper. 'The RuneScape Tattler' is a clever and funny title. :P

That is a very convincingly epic preview, I support this idea, it all looks organized and could come together!
