What a sorry attempt for more publicity. Very disappointing move from Jagex. I have never understood why they are offering "trips" to Jagex or "free membership". Why these absurd competitions were ever released is beyond anyone's guess.

Firstly, we had the absurdity of having competitions released on different social networks, meaning many players missed out on the competitions. How is this fair? Holiday drops were removed from the game for a similar reason. So why haven't Jagex stopped doing this?

Secondly, the last two main competitions have been related to making videos. I have argued constantly how I don't feel making video's in a game constitutes actually playing it. It is almost like saying I'll take many screenshots of a game and stick them together to make a work of art. Have I actually drawn a picture or have I played the game? That is my opinion though. What IS wrong, is the fact that the only competitions that seem to be released on the main site are all related to videos. Are we simply going to see more boring video competitions over and over? Are you going to reward "famous" players more and more as opposed to players who do not get into the public limelight?

The reason why the competition is unjust are the rewards. Some person makes a video for a few hours (probably quite a lot of hours), and gets a life time membership. What about the players who took time to make their videos. How are they rewarded? Competitions in real life are different. No one actually forces you to enter, likewise no one forced you to enter in this competition. But surely the winners of this competition now gain a distinct advantage over other players? How is this fair or right? The trip to Jagex was a decent reward, but lifetime membership was bemusing. These players can now stop/start playing Runescape whenever they feel, whereas everyone else actually feels the unnecessary need to play more when they can afford membership.

By offering more "Big Tickets", you risk creating more tension within the community as more players try to gain this distinct advantage and win one.

Overall the idea in my view feels like a sorry publicity stunt. It feels as if Jagex wanted to just get more players playing to boost figures or what have you. It probably wasn't, but that is how it feels.

I took no part in this competition whatsoever. The first one put me off the rest, with Mark Gerhard and the other video maker making dumbed down jokes that made Runescape feel like a game for seven year old kids when Jagex was actually starting to turn that around.

The lifetime membership reward has to be scrapped, because if you continue to give more players these rewards, it will inevitably create more tensions in the community. I had to personally witness the onslaught of abuse from many members when free players had access to the forums. It wouldn't surprise me that if we see a sudden increase in free tickets being issued, more and more arguments will occur.
