In my clan, we hold weekly citadel events. Part of this is a different battlefield every week. My battlefield layouts thus fare have been varied:
-A maze (this takes a lot of planning and drawing out, and is actually pretty difficult with only 200 elements. Also: leave a few open paths, and leave hidden spikes on those to make it harder to just click on the end and zoom there)
-Big-Boom (a number of warriors in an area surrounded by water, and a free rune spawn. And advise everyone to get ancients)
-Big-Boom-Back (same as above, but then with mages and rangers)
-Choice problem (Nice for in a puzzle-based multiple-room field. A number of conveyor belts, of which one is not ending in a 100% invisible spike)
-Football (soccer for the Americans. This is hilarious, but only becomes doable if you have multiple goals per team, else it'll take ages to score even one goal. Make sure though that the ball at least has to change direction before being able to be scored)
I've also made a fair share of ice sliding puzzles, though it's actually pretty hard to figure those out in such a way that there is only one path to the end.
With a few puzzles after each other, you can create races, or coop-dungeoneering style fields. However, I would like to see some more possibilities for puzzles. Sliding block puzzles for instance would be great.
