FAQ

Q: So this is a Void Knight clan (yawn). What makes this different from the rest?
A: While it's true, some aspects of the role-plays will be standard Void Knight group-style, I hope to change up the status quo by introducing an episodic-like narrative with a corresponding theme relevant to the Void Knight brand. I also hope to offer a group that details a realistic, 'gritty' and challenging feel which also makes you think. You could call these my 'unique selling points'.

Q: How does the storyline work? What happens when it's over?
A: The storyline consists of chapters that have a predetermined role in the story. These could be a few sessions each. Once the story is over, it's fairly open - new incarnations could take its place, the writers can create a new story or we will just make it up as we go.

Q: Does the storyline mean everything is already set out? Are my characters important?
A: Of course they are! The storyline is not set in stone, but like a list of flashpoints. This role-play emphasises morality and choice. It will be the choices your characters make as a collective that affects the outcome of the story and our experience within this group.

Q: How are the pests different to other incarnations?
A: Divination. That's all I'll disclose at this point.

Unit Specifications

In this incarnation of the Void Knights, unit specification refers to a characters role in combat. This refers to the standard triangle in combat: the attackers, who are focused on damaging the opponent; the tanks, who direct the attention of enemies to themselves and prevent allies getting hurt; and the support role, who maintain the groundwork and are associated with strategy and medical assistance.

The positions seen in Conquest, such as Scout and Halberdier, are more side-roles in comparison. It does not really matter what weapon a character has in their combat role so they could be attached to any of these. However it's unlikely someone would be a tank if they were comparable to a Scout (light armour and knives).

There are also non-combat roles that can be elaborated on during role-play. This may include things such as armourers, researchers, intelligence officers etc.

Unit Hierarchy

× Admiral
The admiral is the single-most powerful and esteemed individual in the Void Knights. Due to this status, this character is an NPC in this incarnation, and may only be referred to in the story as 'High Command'.

× Commodore
The commodore is the 'field general' of the Void Knights. They are the highest command in any given company. There is only one per company. They may be mentioned singularly or referred to generally as 'High Command' when not in the company.

× Captain
The captain is the second-most powerful authority figure in a company of Void Knights. They may lead in combat or oversee missions in the office. There may be up to three per company.

× Commander
The commanders are, naturally, the first real commanding role. They may be in charge of a squad in combat. There may be up to three in a company.

× Elite
The elite is an experienced Knight. To attain Elite status is no mean feat, and they are a minority in the 'standard' ranks of the Void Knights. There is no distinguished time period requirement to become one - it is based on individual experience and service alone.

× Knight
The knight is the standard rank in the Void Knights. They are also the most numerous, consisting of all specifications and roles.

× Squire
The squire is the lowest rank in the Void Knights and consist of trainees and youths. Squirehood often lasts a decade before promotion to Knight.

Morality Meter

Points will be awarded for each situation that determine a character's ethos (if not predecided).

Please note that as an emphasis on morality and choice, repetitive actions that a character of mine may disapprove of will have consequences, such as blatant disregard or ignorance. You are welcomed to do similar.

The diplomatic Knights; they opt for peaceful solutions. They often disapprove of Executioners.
