Yes, one of these is back again. Those threads someone makes every few months to go and have everyone talk about their characters and embrace their narcissistic personalities.

However, this is one I've always personally found interesting. The music a character would have as a theme sheds light onto a character, as well as the player. What sort of music are they listening to lately? That's part of the reason I bring one of these back every six months or so.

This time around, I'd like to poke people's brains on specifics. What song is good for the character in calm moments? What song do you have in mind during tense times? What song out of Runescape's Soundtracks ties closest to them?

I'll start with my current main, Ekaterina "Kat" Renderra.

For Kat, Into the Light by In This Moment is very fitting for her recovery, and all that followed. The woman is a survivor of trauma, and this has pushed her to her limits. This is more calm, though sad and solemn.

Roundtable Rival by Lindsey Stirling is a song I think of when she fights. Kat isn't much of a fighter, but she is a support mage and bard. If she enters a serious conflict personally, it will likely be a duel, with quick movements fueling it.

Fragments of Guthix tends to suit the Renderra as a whole from Runescape tracks. Solemn, mournful, yet also continuing to move on even when their God was slain mercilessly in slumber.

Private fears in public spaces - Front Porch Step

This is one of those songs I've had on repeat for days (weeks, really). I've never heard so much emotion in one voice before in my entire life. (Wait for the build up.) Plus I'm a hopeless romantic and so is Saewyn.

Edit:
As far as songs for certain moments, I let the scene decide that, not the character persay and usually I'll search for a fantasy sound track that fits in with the environment. Maybe some background bar chatter for barpee? :)

For Rosaline Haines it's either Kiss the Sky by Shawn Lee's Ping Pong Orchestra or Retrograde by James Blake (and yes, I heard both from Tales from the Borderlands. :P ). They relate to her struggle with supporting the Godless and trying to find herself in the new age.

Oh, and for Ptolemos, Da' Dip by Freak Nasty. :D "Ptolemos, the friendly, informative Mahjarrat."

Cecil Ryder - "Altissia Theme", FINAL FANTASY XV soundtrack

He is a ******* to a noble family he never knew. He grew up as a pirate, sailing as a boatswain under multiple captains just to get by. The song has a "waltz" feeling to it, which aptly describes his ties to nobility, his free spirit, and his romantic nature.

Oh, dandy. The Venn Diagram between my two nerdiest nerdzones, RP, and music. Time to embarrass myself. Let’s get this over with.

Kasharren Elysian: ‘Chamber of Reflection’ by Mac DeMarc* * Kasharren is an intensely secretive person. Privately he meditates upon those he’s admired in life despite how differently they operated in similar roles than himself. It often occurs to him that they’d have dealt with situations he faces more honestly, but he prefers to play to his strengths regardless.

Sir Alister Grier: *Quarter Chicken Dark’ from the Goat Rodeo Sessions – Alister may be keen and focused in his duties, but otherwise he’s a jolly, and somewhat absentminded person. He’s almost naively optimistic and easy-going; this song goes with his good nature.

Dellus: ‘Veteran of the Psychic Wars’ by Blue Oyster Cult – This one’s a bit unusual for a fighting theme, but it’s a fittingly slow and magnitudinous march for old Dellus. For all his weariness with violence he can** get away from it, and in his dogged pursuit of redemption he likely never will.

Peach: *Sleeping Ute’ by Grizzly Bear - Peach was born and spent her early life in Meiyerditch. Ever since she’s been explorative and more than a touch spacey. Feeling out a spiritual relationship with nature as she’d never known it before leaving Meiyerditch, even leading her into the practice of spiritual summoning, Peach lives in a state of dreamlike wanderlust that this song captures pretty well.

Zaeltar: ‘Run of Show’, a cover by RichaardEB – Zaeltar is flamboyant fire wizard that revels in life and every opportunity to flaunt his area of magical expertise. FIRE. He loves it, and he’s pretty sure it can solve anything. He’s wrong, but hey, look how much fun he’s having. This theme would be for a proper bout that spurs him to pull out all the stops.
