Maybe because they want to know what active roleplaying groups are still, currently, going in this community and making a thread like this helps them receive a general list of groups with aforementioned criteria, rather than, say, posting on each individual thread with no idea whether it's active or if it's even the right thread for the RP they are interested in. Oh, I thought that was why there's descriptions in rp threads and they were biased toward the top based on most recent activity. My bad...
