When threads like these no longer make the F-mods sweat I’d like to think of the state of ‘the community’ as non-existent. All this for an announcement that you’re going to try roleplaying in one area only? This takes commitment I haven’t seen in quite some time but I’m curious to see how it stands this summer. So far it's just a bunch of words.
Best of luck to all willing to invest themselves to this proposal and Happy Spring Harvest Festival to those going to the first roleplay that's involved with this idea of centralised RP. Hopefully the first of many to come.
Quickly learn how to Roleplay on RuneScape!
I am bad and that's good, I will never be good and that's not bad, there's no one I'd rather be than me.
Having a thread that discusses how to rejuvenate RP in game is a good thing.
Posting to blame and/or insult individuals isn't. With that in mind, RiDaku, Salwamander, and Bad BunnyX3, your posts have been hidden. Please be respectful in future and refrain from doing that.
Actually put into practice what is preached. Don’t just make a thread and expect it to work on its own and solve the issue.
Emphasis on “practical” since most will just forum-post and that’s it. I’m writing this whilst on a train so it’s not hard to make threads. I’ve put support towards this concept, but as Croconuts said; it’s just a bunch of words.
Therefore, I would like to make this proposal more practical. I’d like to state that no, I’m not trying to steal the limelight, but if you’re serious and want a relatively loose canon/freelance group which doesn’t dissociate from roleplay groups you’re in, I’ll offer my friends chat as a “hub”.
I know it goes against what initially was stated, “A certified hub”, but instead of Fally-standing endlessly, hoping to rp, you can find people to rp with without having to stop skilling during quiet periods. Simply just say “wanna rp?” In the FC and that’s it. You’ve made the first step and you’ll likely find someone to roleplay with, maybe multiple. I am not stating I will be its “leader” either, just a “host”.
Sure, keep it Misthalin centric, but if roleplay drives you to another region, then do so, don’t dither about if it leads your roleplay out of Misthalin, but do remember we’re trying to stay centric to Misthalin overall.
I’ll state this in its own paragraph for emphasis:
Find a hub like mine and don’t be shy to ask others to roleplay!
We can’t go about just not doing anything and making threads that fade into obscurity because it’s just words. Gotta be practical. A quote from Shia LaBeouf:
JUST DO IT, MAKE YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE!
Understand I’m not attacking anyone, this “practical” modus operandi seems like a better way.
Finally, “actions speak louder than words”. Take the first step, join my FC and see how it goes, sound good? Good.
Hope to see you guys there.
PS: I hope this post doesn't make you sweat at all Twillow, your doing great work

I'm quite new here so please forgive my ignorance. I've been trying to look for RP in-game now and then but haven't run into anyone in W42 just out in the world looking for RP yet (I've stood around in the Rising Sun sometimes for over an hour without seeing anyone). I'd quite like to see a revitalization of RP and a central hub where someone could potentially just walk in and find something to do.
Personally, I have no interest in PoKs. I don't have anything against the concept; I'm just not interested in playing out court politics, nor is my character tied to one kingdom in particular (if there's more that goes on in PoKs than the political aspects). I'd happily RP with people who are part of PoKs if I run into them but I don't plan to join a PoK myself.
I made my character's story more suitable for freelance RP and I'm hoping to see some more of it around the game. I also don't really have the time to get involved in plots and such, so a bit of casual in-character interaction from time to time is what I'm after.
Maybe there really isn't much interest for freelance RP overall in the community, but speaking for myself, I'd love to run into some freelance RP. I just haven't been able to come across any so far so no one knows my interest even exists. If there is a central hub where we can gather and find some RP by running into fellow RPers, I believe it would help me a lot. And if there are any others out there who are interested in freelance RP, I have a feeling they're in the same boat (if they exist, maybe I'm just an anomaly).
Anyways, if any of you read this and are similarly interested in freelance casual RP, feel free to hit me up in-game when you see me!
P.S. Nathmatics mentioned an FC as opposed to standing around endlessly. Which FC is this and can I join?

Of course you may join @Huntress Asa, would be glad to have you.
I quickly made a little "guide" on how to join friend chats if others aren't sure how to. Might as well since I've got nothing else to do today and my feet feel like they're blistering from all the walking, so I'll make this guide to make it absolutely
crystal clear
on how to join my FC or others.
Step 1, look for these two Icons:
The left one simply displays only friendchat messages, though iirc you can see it also in all chat unless disabled. The one on the right indicates the friend chat's "settings" (refer to step 3) and where you can see other members online.
Step 2, look for this icon.
If you don't have the previous icons in your chatbox, hover over this icon, then click the identical ones in image 1 to have both appear on the chatbox.
Step 3, This is what the "settings" interface looks like
Note that if you're not in a FC, the "leave" option becomes "join". This is where you see all the other FC members.
Step 4, Joining
You'll be prompted with this interface to join someone's FC. It goes by a person's username, so using "Nathmatics" (as is seen in the image) and hitting enter will join said person's friendchat.
And that's about it! Hope it helped.

I've been gone from the RSRP community for a good number of years, but I recently returned to the game just to check things out and do some of the content Jagex has pushed out.
I'd be lying if I said my mind hasn't turned to RP once or twice - which I guess is obvious since I ended up on this forum page.
I don't know if its a helpful insight, but I've rp'd on pretty much any MMO you can imagine that has come out or existed between 2012 and now, and I've observed a few things about what constitutes successful "Thriving" rp, at least for me personally.
I think a good formula for success is (Healthy) Conflict, and accessibility.
Conflict, while it hasn't had a good history in RSRP on an OOC level, I think is a good catalyst for story and change in a roleplay world - and one that RSRP can uniquely benefit from since RS has an unmirrored take on the world, being that players ignore a lot of NPC world leaders. I think creating situations with risk in the RP world could greatly benefit the remaining community, and can be done in a healthy productive way. We didn't always handle it well in the past, but (I assume) we were all fairly young.
POK leaders have a unique responsibility of creating rp for others - I don't mean to pass the buck, but when you're hosting a part of the map, it should fall to the leading players to make sure their region is active and invite players with reasons to come and visit to interact. To pull this thought together, they can provide growth and cultivate Freelance by providing a platform and creating open stories for people who want to engage.
My recommendation (take with a grain of salt, I have very little understanding of the current state of RP) would be as follows:
1. Create one platform of easy communication for the community, to share when people are gathering to RP.
2. POK leaders rally their people, and RP open and often in their spaces to draw freelance. Share their stories and breathe life into their tiles.
3. Profit.
To elaborate further on my post, Conflict doesn't need to be between players necessarily either. Conflict can take many different forms. A conflict could be as small as 'A merchant is traveling to Tree Gnome Village but can't get past Moss Giants along the way' to something as large as a lich terrorizing the land with an army of risen dead (Shout out to the Thorvald plot years ago).
Whatever the case, a challenge is the best way to rally people and create new relationships between characters I think - but the biggest hurdle is people to create them.
By now most of us are working adults, and mantling the responsibility of organizing, creating, and dedicating the sheer amount of time it takes to rp in a meaningful way is no small feat around the titanic responsibilities of simple day-to-day. Especially so considering I'm sure some of you even have children at this point.
In reality, my recommendation above is absurdly reductionist, but I do think it's a good way to put a potential approach in scope.
And I want to be explicitly clear that I am not pointing fingers - it's just a tough reality of the state of things. People are busy, and creating good RP is very time consuming. But without a vision that is put out into the world, freelancers won't feel a reason to engage - be it with a plot, or with a city if there's nothing happening there to be a part of.
I don't think POK's are bad, but I do think they harbor a degree of responsibility to the community at large that should be recognized, not just to their own groups. And please when I say this remember that I have no idea what POK's still exist, and who is leading them. This is not a callout, it's just an observation from any RP community I've observed, not just RSRP.
Thanks for your time reading, I hope this is at least a little helpful
