So to breath some life into the community and public scene, and because I watched a movie that recently inspired me. I wanted to make a post to get some community feedback.

What would the communities interest be for a series of independant events? The goal would be to design some events to develop characters without bogging them down to a single plot and introducing elements of runescape roleplay that isn't tied to POK's or political roleplay at all.

There would be no involvement from the POK's in order to remove potentional drama or conflict of interests and to not influence or derail the POK's own plot. Casual, plot oriented roleplay to build a better public scene and build up our characters and have fun.

I'd be willing to build a thread and start getting things moving if there is enough interest. Let me know what you think! :D

I have been thinking about an advent kalender for roleplay , where we basically try to weave together a schedule in the days before Christmas and have everyone host a single, small and casual roleplay event for the community every day.Could be organised in groups of people, with brand new characters, in a pok, etc. Think it has potential to be quite nice for a theme. I am bad and that's good, I will never be good and that's not bad, there's no one I'd rather be than me.

Not a bad idea. Personally though, I was hoping to have a series of events outside POK's due to the potentional it offers. Not being bound by IC politics would go a long way in allowing much more flexibility in both the plot and for the players.

I would argue that in-character politics will help shape and expand the scope of most event ideas that come up.

Also you can fill out the advent kalender with both non-POK and POK orientated events. It doesn't even have to be roleplay itself, you can even make events for the server that have to do with roleplay in-game that will just stick to the forums because you want to host something but can't commit to a long log-in period.

Say you got 1 week;

Monday: Person 1 hosts a casual roleplay at The Wizards' Tower

Tuesday: Person 2 plays a bartender and hosts a bar night in Seers.

Wednesday: Person 3 hosts a small adventure roleplay tied to nothing.

Thursday: Person 1 and 3 host a fashionscape contest on the forums.

Friday: Person 4 hosts a religious ceremony for Zamorakian characters.

Saturday: Person 2 and 4 host an in-character poetry competition on the forums.

Sunday: Group 1 hosts a small event about melee combat in Roleplay.

And that's just something from the top of my head. Does need some more planning but it is certainly one way to thematically host singleton events without forcing too much commitment from a small number of people.

As a general comment, since I kinda like the theory of this. You must make sure you're accommodating for the fact that there aren't a lot of people who will interact with certain other individuals which could prove problematic, as well as other scheduled roleplays within POKs, I would instead suggest trying to cooperate with leaders of POKs without involving other POKs and encourage them to make some sort of adventurer character, rather than a political figure.

Naturally in the group there could be dramatics, especially if it was a long-running thing, rather than just the one-off event and that's it. People like progress, it's why a lot of people will roleplay in specific roles and build things up around that. For instance, in the Empire of Misthalin roleplay, I'm Chief Constable (or just the fancy term for captain of the palace guard) and initially it was nothing, now it has somewhat of a structure, as well as imperial guardsmen, sergeants for drills and also those who go above guardsmen and end up becoming Imperial Champions (though I will admit I've not much with them).

My point is, if you can encourage people in and develop a story as a DM, it'd be great.

Weirdly though, as of writing, this idea reminds me of the quest collective, which is more or less dedicated to this subgenre, though as far as I'm aware they've gone insanely inactive, and there probably is drama around it, as it seems to be for most things.
